A friend is your companion, but your best friend is like your other half. Your best friend stays with you all the time, trusts you, have fun with you, shares everything to you, and cries with you. My friends are also my best friends. They are my companions. I share everything to them, I trust them with everything. I love them as my family I do not want seeing them arguing. It hurts for me, when they ignore each other. So I decided to write a letter to my friend in the form of an essay.

Last week, we had a small fight, but it was a lesson for us, that we should consider each other’s feelings. We fixed it as soon as possible, in the end we understood each other. Good communication is the key to a good relationship. Talking to each other lessens the misunderstanding and comforts everyone.

I have many best friends but I have one best friend for a long time. We share everything and she is my sister by soul. We can relate to each other’s experiences. Sometimes we have petty fights but we fix it before it ends our friendship. We share problems together and we help each other in fixing it. Together, we have adventures, we explore every place we know, we treasure every moment we had and at the same time, we keep on adding more memories. We also had promise to each other that we will be best friend until we grow old. We will be together in each other’s journey, we will be here supporting our dreams. These are our promises.

But lately, I noticed that she is changing. I’m not mad, I’m just in pain. Because it’s like she’s a different person now I am missing my old best friend I am missing the old her. I want to tell her everything I fell but I do not want to hurt her because I think she is just doing these things because she is from a heartache. I’m just trying to understand her. I want to confront her. I want to talk to her. But it’s very hard for me because I might lose her. She might get mad on me. I am trying to understand her. I want to understand her. I want to know what she really feel but I am not the only person she talks to about her problems. I know there will be a time that she and I would talk and we will fix things and we will clarify things. And we will clear all our issues. I hope when that time comes we will still be best friends and we will end our issue. I hope that time would come soon. I don’t want to lose her but I also do not want her to change completely.

For now, let us just clear our minds because we won’t be able to fix everything if we do not have a clear state of mind. I know that we will be able to complete our promises and we will be able to reach our goals together.

I firmly believe that there is a moment in our lives when we find our soulmate. And I’m not talking about any man, let’s be clear. I am talking about that person you met and did not like at all, but that ended up entering your life and becoming inseparable. A person who has been with you at any time when you most need it. That person you can call at any time and you know will be there. The one who has been in awkward situations for her just to do you a favor. So this is for you, friend:

First of all, I have to thank you for being the way you are. Because you let me be myself when I’m with you. Thank you for being transparent and sincere. For sharing with me not only my happy moments but also the most disastrous, shameful and sad. Thank you for accepting that sometimes I don’t tell you things. For waiting patiently for me to be ready to tell you and be willing to help me get up once I fall. Thank you for being the best person I know. Seriously, you make the world a better place. At least my world. Thank you because you never expect anything in return and yet you give everything for others.Thank you for all the times we have laughed and for which we have also fought. Thanks for holding me, for being my ground wire. I don’t know what I would do without you in my crazy moments. Thank you because you always get the best of me. For making these years in which we have been friends seem much more than they are. Because during these years we have created memories for a lifetime. Thank you for reminding me that I don’t have to worry about others, but only those who love me. Thank you for being my faithful squire. You defend me before anyone, although then you throw me the anger for what I did in private. Thank you for so many things … But above all, thank you for giving me all these reasons and for being my person.

When I called my best friend she was happy, I asked her if she was busy, she said no. I told her that I needed to tell her something, she looked kinda worried but I told her that it was not anything bad. I proceed to tell her that I needed her to not interrupt me until I was finished, she said ok. While I was reading the letter that I wrote for her I could see how her eyes were half watery and she was smiling from ear to ear. She knows how much I appreciate her but I think I had never told her this way. After I finished reading the letter, she kept crying of happiness and how beautiful the letter was (that’s what she told me). After a few minutes, she calmed down and told me that she was sending me hugs and that she hoped we would see each other soon. She also told her mom about the letter and she thanked me and told me that she loved me as another daughter. After, we talked for a while to get caught up with our lives and right now I miss her more than anything.

For me, it was something new, something different. I think I had never shown my feelings to someone or at least the way I did. I am not a person who talks a lot about feeling or expresses them but this exercise helped me to open up more with people I can trust. I really liked this exercise, I think we should do this type of things more often with people we love and show our gratitude for those special people. I believe this is good not only for the person who is showing gratitude but for the one that is receiving the letter too. Personally it felt so good that my best friend liked my letter, it felt good to see how much she appreciates me and to hear it from her was really good. We never know what is going on with other people’s minds so expressing feelings can be so important to someone. Gratitude makes us appreciate the value of many things, and when we appreciate the value of these things, we extract more benefits from it; we’re less likely to take things for granted. I am glad I did this because it made me feel better about myself, I was stressed out about final and hearing her voice and those motivational words helped me a lot. I think demonstrating gratitude and feeling thankful was blocking other negative feelings it made me realize that someone else was looking out for me and helping me get through the day.

I feel like people think showing gratitude is easy but sometimes it is not. Because when we are thankful we are giving all the credit for the good things that have happened to us to other people. And finally, I am thankful because I did this homework because I know our friendship became an even stronger friendship and I know that it is not so bad showing your feelings to people you love.
