BFTS Museum

During World War II thousands of British pilots learned to fly at six civilian training schools in the United States. The first and largest of the schools was in Terrell, Texas. After the United States entered the war, American Aviation Cadets also trained at the school. More than 2,000 Royal Air Force and American Army Air Force pilots earned their wings over North Texas between 1941 and 1945. Terrell’s citizens welcomed the student pilots to their community and many life-long bonds were forged. Museum hours are Wed-Sat from 10 AM - 4 PM. Admission is free.

Peaches are the fruit that started it all at Ham Orchards. Visit them from mid-May to mid-August to purchase a wide variety of goodies, such as produce, jams, fudge, fresh baked goods, and strawberry and peach ice cream. You can also enjoy peach BBQ from Eddie Deen.

The facility hosts youth sports leagues, academic programs, and summer camps. The facility is also available for rental to clubs, organizations and for tournaments.

The Terrell Heritage Museum is located in the Terrell Carnegie Library building built in 1904. It is a Registered Texas Historical Landmark and only one of 13 left standing today. The Museum collects, catalogs and displays artifacts from the rich history of Terrell. The Museum also maintains archives and a large photograph collection available to researchers. Their hours are Wednesday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM; Saturday & Sunday 1:00 - 4:00 PM.

The Griffith Homeplace Museum and Research Center strives to preserve 'intact' the Historic Griffith Collection in a repository of memorabilia and artifacts assembled by a family who lived there for multiple generations. Shop the world's largest flea market just 30 minutes from Terrell in the town of Canton. During the weekend preceding the first Monday of every month, 7,000 vendors cover 300 acres with their wares. Antiques, furniture, clothing—even small livestock—can be found on the Trade Days grounds.

The East Texas Tourism Association sponsored US 80 Event transforms more than 200 miles of historic US Highway 80 into the second largest yard sale in the country. The sale begins in Bossier City, Louisiana and stretches to Grand Prairie on the third weekend in April and October.
