ALDI will be opening nine new stores across the country by the end of the year.

The move will see more than 6,000 new jobs created, and stores will open in places including Newcastle and Norwich.

It comes after Aldi previously revealed it was looking at almost 30 possible locations for new stores.

The budget supermarket has now confirmed nine locations where stores will open, with more still to be announced.

The new supermarkets will open between now and autumn, an Aldi spokeswoman confirmed.

Shoppers in Huddersfield and Dewsbury will see a new Aldi opening near them within the next month.

And Southampton will get two new stores this year.

The new stores are as follows:

1. William Frost Way, Norwich
2. Salt Lake, Porthcawl
3. Kingston Park, Newcastle
4. Station Road, Castle Donnington
5. Eastrea Road, Whittlesey
6. Causeway Park, Staines upon Thames
7. Farnham Road, Slough
8. Auckland Road, Southampton
9. Hedge End, Southampton

The discounter currently has more than 990 stores and employs around 4,000 people.

Giles Hurley, chief executive officer of Aldi UK, said:“Demand for Aldi has never been higher as more and more people realise they can make significant savings on every shop without compromising on quality.

"It’s more important than ever that we are making it even easier for more people to shop with us – including by opening dozens of new stores."

The supermarket is also currently recruiting for 450 jobs across its 11 regional distribution centres around the UK.

Store assistants at Aldi receive a starting pay of £11 an hour nationally, rising to £11.90, while workers within the M25 start at £12.45, rising to £12.75.

The supermarket also offers paid breaks.

Aldi also recently increased pay rates for around 7,000 warehouse colleagues, with warehouse selectors now receiving a minimum starting salary of £13.18 per hour.

It comes as Aldi was named Britain's most popular supermarket for its "unbeatable prices".

It was also named the UK's cheapest supermarket at the end of January, according to The Grocer 33.

You should always compare your shopping to other supermarkets as a general rule in case you miss out on a bargain.

And if you deliver to your home, make sure you take into account added costs.

You can usually find your nearest supermarket branch when you visit the brand's website if you'd rather visit in person.

Tips for keeping the grocery bill down

It's always a good idea to look forways to save on your supermarket weekly shop, regardless of where you go.

For example, there are cheap food clubs run by local community groups or charities floating around.

They're different to food banks because you don't need to be referred by anyone to join one.

These clubs link up with local supermarkets, who donate food nearing their sell-by date.
