Related Story General Hospital Preview: Elizabeth Opens the Door to a World of Heartache Most Popular <p>Say it with us: “I do… not believe that any nuptials during May Sweeps topped and in all of 2024 will be able to top the lovely, lavish ones that <em>General Hospital</em> threw for Brook Lynn and Chase.”</p> <p>From cartoonish personalities to a complete disinterest in what is typically the cause of DID, <em>Young & Restless</em>‘ story of Ashley’s mental anguish carried all the weight of a feather, especially since we all know she won’t really kill Tucker.</p> <p>As delighted as we were that <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> returned Ivy to L.A., we were utterly bewildered by her here today, gone tomorrow visit. There’s got to be more coming down the road…uh, right?</p> <p>Not only did <em>Days of Our Lives</em> stick the landing of its reveal that Jude really is Nicole’s son, it did so in a way that kept the story going full steam ahead by allowing Eric to remain in the dark about the fact that he’s the dad.</p> <p>At the tail end of a season in which <em>9-1-1</em> had <em>already</em> sent Bobby and Athena on a <em>Poseidon Adventure</em>, did it really expect us to worry that it was going to kill him off after he saved her from a fire? As if.</p> <p><em>Young & Restless</em> having Victor imprison Jordan in his basem*nt a la Michael Scott back in the day was a nice nod to history. But, um, to what <em>end</em> did he do this? Does he have a wine in his cellar that pairs well with torture?</p> <p><em>General Hospital</em> has us all in on Sasha and Cody. The show’s slow build to their romance gave us a chance to fall in love with them in real time as Brando’s widow realized what a sweetheart Cody really is.</p> <p>Why <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> gave Luna a pregnancy scare when Zende said that they had used protection, we’ll never understand. Then again, we can’t comprehend why the show is doing this to these characters and R.J. in the first place!</p> <p><em>Bold & Beautiful</em> has on its hands a fab war in the one that’s erupted between Steffy and Hope. We just wish it didn’t hinge on the latter suddenly making peace with the fact that her dad loves a homicidal maniac.</p> <p>We thought we’d never find anything about <em>Days of Our Lives</em>‘ Konstantin story that we liked. But then Maggie began spearheading the effort to bring down the baddie, and we eagerly climbed on board.</p> <p>Jill promoting Billy at C-W and Audra going after Glissade only shone a spotlight on how pointless <em>Young & Restless</em>’ corporate stories are. Also, is the character of Audra ever going to be defined, or is she doomed to be a perpetual plot device?</p> <p>Though we’d be happy to never again watch <em>General Hospital</em> sparring partners Drew and Nina have hate sex, we <em>do</em> like the new, snarkier version of Cameron Mathison’s character. Sometimes we’d even swear he had a spine!</p> <p><em>Station 19</em> made its last season arguably its most compelling one ever. Which, of course, only got us all fired up all over again that ABC made the boneheaded decision to cancel the <em>Grey’s Anatomy</em> spinoff.</p> <p><em>General Hospital</em> pretended that Kristina hadn’t once starred in a reality show called <em>Mob Princess</em> in order to have her be shocked, totally <em>shocked</em>, to learn that dad Sonny is a violent underworld kingpin.</p> <p><em>Days of Our Lives</em>‘ fresh faces have potential. But Sophia, Felicity and Aaron are going to have to be majorly fleshed out if they are ever going to realize it.</p> <p>There should be a special Emmy for Outstanding Line Reading given to Tyler James Williams for the swoon-worthy way Gregory said “I fixed your light” to Janine in the game-changing Season 3 finale of <em>Abbott Elementary.</em></p> <p>Not sure what reaction <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> wanted us to have to Sheila’s resurrection, but a yawn probably wasn’t it. After Finn and Li’s “demises,” the audience was trained to think that no one on the show ever really died.</p> <p>As smooth a criminal as James Patrick Stuart makes, we can’t fathom why <em>General Hospital</em> is digging Valentin into such a deep hole. The chance to make him a supervillain was lost long ago when he was rebranded as a romantic lead.</p> <p>Our jaws dropped right along with Severide’s in the season finale of <em>Chicago Fire</em> when he learned that Damon was his surprise half brother.</p> <p><em>General Hospital</em> made two big mistakes with Ava: 1. It had her behave like she’d forgotten messing with Morgan’s meds got him killed. 2. It played her as dumb, which she ain’t. She’d know lying to Sonny was a disaster in the making.</p> <p><em>Young & Restless</em>’ Peter Bergman and Melody Thomas Scott absolutely slayed Jack and Nikki’s bender. But they’re both hella rich. Would Jack <em>really</em> have risked his sobriety rather than insist that his ex-wife check herself into rehab?</p> <p>We’ll be damned if by the time <em>General Hospital</em> finally introduced Gregory to his maker, we hadn’t come to love the character — and wish that he and Tracy had had longer to explore their obvious feelings for each other.</p> <p><em>Bold & Beautiful</em> having Finn decide that because something bad happened to Sheila, she was changed — a hero! — made him seem even dumber than usual. And bless his heart, we wasn’t all that bright to begin with!</p> <p>Season 3 of <em>Bridgerton</em> is so addictive and funny and sexy and swoon-worthy, we were aghast to get four episodes in and remember that we’d only get the <em>first</em> half in May. Binge-us interruptus!</p> <p>We may not be crazy about <em>Young & Restless</em>‘ story of Ashley’s alters, but we love having Christopher Cousins around as Alan. Can we please keep the soap vet for Traci?</p> <p>We agree you’ve gotta know when to fold ’em. But <em>Days of Our Lives</em>’ Sloan just taking EJ’s money and running was super out of character for the schemer. Luckily, that was fixed at the last minute when the writers returned!</p> <p>We want to cheer <em>Young & Restless</em>‘ attempt to tell a story about Connor’s mental-health struggle, but it would be a lot easier if it wasn’t mostly played off screen.</p> <p>It was a challenge to watch as <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> let Sheila have her cake (“I’ve changed!”) and eat it, too (“Ha! No, I haven’t!”). But we have to admit it was a hoot and a half when Finn’s “hero” taunted Li from under a hospital sheet.</p> <p>May Sweeps came and went, and <em>Young & Restless</em> MVPs Phyllis, Nick and Sharon were all stuck on the backburner. On what planet is that a good idea?</p> <p>Gah! The teaser Netflix released in May for Season 3 of <em>Heartstopper</em> was so adorable, we couldn’t bear the fact that the romantic dramedy wouldn’t return until October.</p> <p>As disturbing as the beatdown Sonny gave Dex was on <em>General Hospital</em>, it did serve as a vivid reminder that the so-called “good mobster” is at the end of the day a dangerous gangster.</p> <p>In a season in which very little actually happened, <em>Grey’s Anatomy</em> threw Winston and Monica into bed together because…? Yeah, we don’t know, either. All that buildup to her and Amelia, and then…<em>that</em>. Weird.</p> <p>The wedding that <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> staged for Deacon and Sheila was appropriately quirky, right down to those toe cookies. But the hoops through which the show went to get Finn to attend were just plain nonsensical.</p> <p><em>General Hospital</em> made <em>Santa Barbara</em> fans’ fondest wishes come true when it once again cast Lane Davies opposite Nancy Lee Grahn. There’s no chance Fergus and Alexis could be the next Mason and Julia, right? Asking for a friend.</p> <p>We got months of build up as <em>Days of Our Lives</em>‘ Konstantin promised he’d use The Pawn to get his revenge, but by the time he activated John (to steal a prenup, of all things!) Marlena had already deprogrammed her hubby and Kon’s big plan fizzled into nothing.</p> <p>Though it was hilarious of <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> to have Steffy exclaim, “I cannot hear Deacon go on and on about Sheila’s toes anymore,” the fact is, we were right there with her, crying “<em>More</em> than enough already!”</p> <p>Netflix’s YA dramedy <em>Dead Boy Detectives</em> surprised us with how much we fell in love with it and its characters — even the villains! Funny and full of heart, the show charmed us even as it dealt with such heady topics as trauma, abuse and coming out in a way that had us clamoring for more the second the first season ended.</p> <p>So, uh, <em>General Hospital</em>, are you really going to just leave the question of “Who killed Austin?” unanswered? Asking for a friend… named Austin.</p> <p>Paulina’s radioactive snow-bound island rescue of Chanel on <em>Days of Our Lives</em> was utterly ludicrous, but it <em>has</em> made for some compelling, heartfelt scenes as Johnny and his bride struggle with the reality that their baby could be born with birth defects.</p> <p>Not that anyone could ever replace <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> badass Susan Flannery. But when Li gets really mad, like she did upon learning Sheila was alive, doesn’t Naomi Matsuda get scary good?</p> <p>Maybe next time <em>Young & Restless</em> and <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> want to have missing characters (like Claire and Sheila) found under something (be it a dead body or a dirty mattress), they could coordinate their schedules so the discoveries aren’t made in the same week.</p> <p>We are as excited to think that <em>Days of Our Lives</em>‘ Sarah might be inviting Xander’s mother to their wedding as he would be upset.</p> <p>By leaving Taylor off the canvas, <em>Bold & Beautiful</em> has once again painted her as Worst Mother of the Year. How on earth could she not have been there to support Steffy through Sheila’s resurrection?</p> <p><em>General Hospital</em> fans will likely agree it doesn’t make a whole lotta sense for Carly to ignore warnings to stay away from Official Bad Guy Brennan. Yet they’re probably just as glad that she’s turning a deaf ear since Laura Wright and Charles Mesure have such great chemistry.</p> <p><em>Days of Our Lives</em>’ Rita is a throwback to classic Characters with a capital C. Whatever EJ’s paying his assistant, it isn’t enough!</p> <p><em>Grey’s Anatomy</em> once again played the beat in which Nick doesn’t even come in second in Meredith’s life, he comes in like 24th. At this point, we want to stage an intervention to make him see that he’s in a toxic relationship.</p> <p>We get why <em>Young & Restless</em> would want to redeem Claire to keep her around — Hayley Erin is awesome. But the character’s transformation into a heroine has been written so heavy-handedly, she’s come off less like a trauma victim and more like a Disney princess.</p> References

Dressed in suits, likely for their father’s memorial, Chase is stunned to see Finn taking a drink. Chase can’t believe he didn’t see this coming and realizes he let himself be completely fooled.

At General Hospital, Brennan slips out of his cuffs, grabs some scrubs, and makes a break for it! Perhaps now we’ll find out why he stabbed himself to get out of Pentonville. Clearly, it was not just to see Carly again.

In the PCPD interrogation room, Anna tells Jason, “Why don’t you just go ahead and say it? It was Sonny who tried to have you killed.” Obviously Jason survived the hitmen sent after him last week. While it looks like it may have been Sonny’s doing, could it have been someone else with the intent of making it look like Sonny was behind the attempted murder of his former best friend?

And finally, Liz, dressed as if she too just came from Gregory’s memorial, walks into Finn’s apartment only discover what appears to be Finn with another woman sitting on his lap on the couch!

<p>Netflix’s YA dramedy <em>Dead Boy Detectives</em> surprised us with how much we fell in love with it and its characters — even the villains! Funny and full of heart, the show charmed us even as it dealt with such heady topics as trauma, abuse and coming out in a way that had us clamoring for more the second the first season ended.</p>
